The European Union has recently announced its commitment to strengthen Project Management skills. IPMA continues to play a crucial role in spearheading awareness about project management.
In a meeting on May 17 with the Minster for Science and Environment Protection of the
Republic of Serbia, Dr. Aleksandar Popovic,
IPMA President Adesh Jain applauded the
support of the government of the Republic of
Serbia to the IPMA member association in
Serbia - YUPMA.
Adesh was accompanied by Dr. Prof. Petar Jovanovic, President, YUPMA, who has done a remarkable job over the past 20 years in strengthening PM awareness and implementation in Serbia & Montenegro. Sava Kovacev, Brane Semolic and Vladimir Obradovic were also present during this meeting.
Adesh mentioned that a two-pronged approach of creating awareness amongst political leaders and civil servants is essential to spread project management top down and to create a wide base by introducing courses |

The minister appreciated IPMA’s efforts both in Serbia & Montenegro and worldwide. He |
suggested that he would speak to his colleagues especially the Ministry of Local Self Governance to bring about more awareness about project management. |

Invited for an Open lecture on May 19 at
the University of Applied Sciences -
Fachhochschule Dortmund, IPMA
President Adesh Jain elaborated on ‘Recent
Contributions in Project Management’ to a
80-strong gathering of faculty and students. The first part of Adesh’s presentation was a brief introduction on IPMA and its activities followed by a much-applauded talk on ‘Project Thinking’.
After the lecture, Adesh had a detailed discussion with key faculty members who suggested to examine the possibility of introducing level E certification for students and to make this more popular
amongst universities. Adesh invited the faculty to send a proposal in this regard for IPMA to review. |

The Second International Project Management Conference held successfully on 5-6 March 2006, in Tehran, Iran saw attendance from 1800 delegates drawn from the top echelons of Iran’s industry, academia and government. IPMA President Adesh Jain was invited to make a keynote presentation at the inaugural ceremony.
While speaking on ‘Project Thinking -the key to managing new opportunities’, Adesh highlighted the role of IPMA in creating global PM awareness. He

mentioned that most activities are done ‘by projects’. To tame the future, one should follow a scientific approach to PM right from the ‘arising of a need’ to its ‘realization’.
Adesh also conducted a workshop for over 300 professionals on ‘IPMA Competency Standards for Project Management’. He explained that the IPMA 4LC scheme provides a complete career path and is hence a unique, complete and powerful global PM certification system. |
