Globally acclaimed Computer Simulations - from Prendo, United Kingdom
Since 2016 CEPM is the Indian partner of the well known Prendo Simulations Ltd., UK.
Why Simulate? Simulations are better than words
Simulation is a very effective method of learning. With today’s accelerating rates of change, and with managers and organisations needing to learn much faster than in previous eras, there is an urgent need to use more effective learning methods; methods that go beyond just transmitting information with words….
" I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." - Confucius
Prendo is a world leader in providing the most advanced Project and Leadership based Computer Simulation programs. Prendo simulations are widely used in leading global companies and top Business schools covering key areas such as Managing of Stakeholders and showing Project Leadership. The simulations provide Insight, Foresight and Efficiency in understanding the complexities and challenges that can come up in managing projects.
Participants get exposed to a valuable, risk free, real life experience, without incurring project costs and also improve their project management maturity. Prendo’s real time computer based simulation programs are top of the range and are used at many of the world’s top business schools, including: Columbia, IMD, INSEAD, MIT Sloan, Oxford/Saïd and Wharton as well as leading companies like Google, Total, Deloitte, Petrobas, BT, Oracle, Shell etc.
Guy Giffin, Director of Prendo, UK and Ruchira Jain, MD of CEPM are seen here.
In July 2016 CEPM tied up with Prendo Simulations of U.K. for providing Computer based Simulation Programs in India to provide experiential learning. The simulations cover key areas such as Managing Stakeholders and Project Leadership. Real Time Computer Based Simulation and Experience Sharing workshops provide Insight, Foresight and Efficiency in understanding the complexities which can come up in managing projects. This is a major step in improving the project management maturity in India.
The Need to Practice
Simulations apply the most basic principle of learning: the need to practice and rehearse. Pilots, sportspeople and the medical profession have long understood the importance of simulating their activities in order to improve their performance and reduce the risk of failure in the real world. The only practice grounds, however, for managers have typically been their real projects, real organisations and real customers. This means that their ‘education’ is often very expensive. Simulations, in contrast, provide an opportunity to learn from mistakes that do not cost very much!
Simulations are better than real world experience. Managing complex projects, for example, can involve hundreds of decisions taken over long periods of time. The distance between cause and effect means that it can actually be difficult to learn from such experience.
Simulation provides a clarity of cause and effect, and an honesty of feedback, that we do not usually enjoy in the real world.
